Dungeon Crawler Carl is a Brand New Genre

Reading these books is like watching martial arts movies or opera: they require you to learn how they work in order to enjoy them. At first blush they don’t sound fun, or even intelligible, and be prepared to bounce off of the beginning a time or two.

That said, when you learn the rules of this brand new genre (and the genre rules include multiple chapter explanations of literal rules) they are delightful.
