There are a million movies written by clueless adults about completely misunderstood or downright imaginary youth culture scenes, but few that are so full of hope and joy about the scenes that they don’t understand. The world of Hackers may not resemble real 1995 at all, but it is a happy world where party teens can hack the planet. I love this movie.
Caveat: I’d bet there are probably “Rock and Roll” or “Surf” movies from the late 1950’s that are both similarly absurd and inaccurate and also full of joy, but as a clueless adult I wouldn’t know them if I saw them.
