Dune is one place to start, but there is also Philip K. Dick, J. G. Ballard, Michael Moorcock if you catch him on the right day, anybody who shows up in Google under “Sci Fi New Wave”, etc, etc.

The worst of this stuff is fun and wild and colorful, and the best is really the best.
