Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits

Alan Moore wrote about his run on Swamp Thing: "… to work properly, horror needs a delicate and carefully sustained atmosphere—one capable of being utterly ruined by the sudden entrance of a man in green tights and an orange cloak, especially if as a character, he's fond of puns."

Dangerous Habits is a transitional work, a comic an about a middle aged working class northern con man dying of cancer in a universe that still theoretically contains Captain Marvel. It works! It’s the definitive John Constantine story and if you read it you will learn a lot about the late 1980’s.
